Trusting God
Psalm 37:5 New Living Translation (NLT)
5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you
Notice that is doesn't say "trust yourself" or "try it out and if you get stuck consult God" or "ask God for advice sometimes if it seems to big for you"
It is saying in everything, all the time, ask God for help. But while that may sound super easy, how often do we actually do that? What is people's first natural response to issues in their lives big or small? What do they tend to turn to when overwhelmed or annoyed?
Stressing and worrying
Micro managing and controlling
Complaining and ranting
But most of these habits are unhealthy and can cause us to drift from God. We need to trust Him. If we trust him we can replace worrying with worship, controlling with trusting, and ranting with praying. And not only will this help our relationships to others and our mental health within ourselves, it will also draw us closer and closer to God in the process.
And that's not even the best part the best part of this verse is when it says if we trust Him then He will help us. What an amazing thing to remember! If we ask for help and trust God, He WILL help us.
