Cymru am bythe
Welcome back to my life. I'm sorry I've disappeared for a few months. I've been quite busy actually living my life to sit down and write about it, although I would have liked to.
I named this post "Cymru am bythe" because it is the Welsh moto which means "Wales forever". I thought it was appropriate since Wales will forever be a part of who I am. I was hit pretty hard by having to leave. I really wasn't expecting it to be so difficult, since I have known it was gonna have to end eventually. I think the thing was I wasn't expecting to love Wales so much, but it really felt like home.
So for those of you who don't know I've been living in the country of Wales for the past six and a half months doing an internship with a church called Glenwood.
I thought I'd quickly share something about my time away. Although I hope to share more as I reflect on my time there and get a chance to write about it. I've learned so much about God, myself, and relating to others. Honestly it's difficult to know what to pick to talk about but I think one thing that has impacted me a lot and will continue to help me every day was the amount I learned about leadership. Part of the Going Public internship is a weekly teaching session. The first module I did was on leadership, and we learned about what a leader is, what it means to be a servant leader, how to make goals, team dynamics, self management, and much more! One of the first things that we learned was the idea that anyone who influences someone else is a leader. While this was a very simple idea that was meant to introduce the books many topics I was very intrigued by this first idea and kept coming back to it as we went through the whole book. Because this concept meant that no one is off the hook and hence everything else the book had to say about leadership was completely relevant and important to anyone and everyone. Realizing that I had the role of a leader in each one of my relationships really challenged me because it meant I was leading by example whether I wanted to or not.
I learned so many things just from living my life the past half year. Which I will touch on more in my next post, which will hopefully come soonish. But I wanted to put this post out there to say I am back in the U.S., I am back to posting on my blog, and I am excited to talk about all I did and learned while I was away.
If you have any questions about my internship of life there I am thinking of making a frequently asked questions post about my trip. So you can comment them below and I will add them to that post!
Thank you so much for reading. Till next time,
Tori
