Monday the 11th of March

This is going to be the first in a series I'm calling a day in the life of an intern. My goal for this series is for you to get a chance to delve into what my life is like on a daily basis. It might be boring but I thought I'd try it out. If you have any feed back, a topic you want to hear me talk about, questions about my internship or Wales, or simply tell me this day in the life thing is boring, whatever it is don't be afraid to leave a comment and let me know!

A Day in the Life of an Intern
(Monday the 11th of March)

*do do, do do, do do do, do do* my alarm went off and I woke up from a really sound sleep. I crawled out from my nice warm blankets and started doing my hair. It was my first day back to my normal schedule and I hadn't slept the best the night before. I was feeling tired but very excited to start my day. I finished getting ready and headed downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed something for supper and for shared lunch at Sprogz and headed out the door.

Popping my headphones in, I turned on music from my favorite artist and happily strolled to the bus stop. I waited for a moment or two till the bus came and I got on and grabbed a seat. Not long and it was time for me to get off and head over to Glenwood. I strolled along in no hurry, knowing I was early anyway. I got to Glenwood a few moments before Deb and she unlocked the building. I headed inside and put my food and bag away. I headed into the other room and grabbed chairs for the staff meeting, then sat and waited for the others to arrive.

Once everyone was ready we had a time of reflection, thankfulness, prayer and pouring a fair well blessing over Courtney as it was her last day before she heads back home to New Zealand. I then helped set down the big hall and then got ready for my meeting with Meg.

Meg and I then sat down and talked about ways that I can better use my gifts and creativity in the internship. I showed her some of my work and she suggested possible projects.

Normally on a Monday morning I would help set up for Sprogz but since I had been in a meeting, as soon as it finished and went to go help Sprogz was starting. So I pinned on my name tag and went to see what I could help with. It was a shared lunch day so we had each brought some kind of finger food. I helped the other women set out the various foods as the mums and children started arriving.

Sprogz went as usually it started out pretty calm as there were only a small amount of families to start. More arrived after lunch, although a few of the mums I like to chat with weren't there. That was disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing them. I enjoyed seeing all the little children again laughing and playing. One little boy asked me a great question which I had never been asked before. I had asked him questions like "What is your favorite color?" And "What is your favorite animal?" After a while of that he turned to me and said "I have a question for you?" And then he asked "What is your favorite part of being an adult?"

[What an interesting question from a three-year old!]

We then moved into the big hall for the normal Sprogz to start. The room was set up as usual with toys everywhere! One part of the room had a space for really little children with pillows and baby toys, another had cars, another had a play kitchen, and there was the spot where we always have a craft of some sort. The other half of the room had a small trampolines and large foam shapes to play with.

It was an ordinary day at Sprogz I chatted with mums and watched the kids run in circles. After free time we did snack and ended with song time as we normally do.

Since it was the monday after the youth weekend away the youth program we have on monday nights was off to get everyone a chance to recuperate. So I went home and spent the night relaxing. In the end it was quite different from a normal monday, but then again, What is a normal Monday really?
